# Gems and Gem sockets

NFT Characters without gems equipped are imperfect. Gems can enormously increase NFT Characters’ attribute points and make them more powerful. To equip a Gem, a NFT character must reach a certain level and have the same colored gem slots unlocked.

There are 5 Gem types with each type representing an attribute of the NFT Character.

Gems have 10 Levels that can be obtained from:\
**1)Loot boxes**

**2)Marketplace**

**3)Gem upgrade activity** \

[Dynamic Pricing System](https://matchnovaofficial.gitbook.io/whitepaper/gamefi-system/dynamic-pricing-system) applies for Gem upgrade. All MCC and WCC spent will be burnt.  

\*3 lower level gems require some MCC and WCC in order to start a gem upgrade.

\*The success rate will be shown in the table below as well as in the app.

\*In the event of success, one higher level of gem will be given. 

\*In the event of failure , all 3 gems will be burnt permanently without compensation 

Gems are also a NFT which can be traded in the marketplace or transferred to the Blockchain. 

Below are the details of how a Gem can positively increase a NFT Character’s attribute points as well as the success rate in the gem upgrade activity.

**Gems rest period:**\
Gems will be entering a rest period of 24 hours once removed from equipment. Equipping again is forbidden during the rest period. However, all other activities related to gems are still available, which includes: List on the market, transfer to the blockchain and gem upgradation.  &#x20;

**Note1:** If an in-rest-period gem is sold on the marketplace , the rest period will be gone.&#x20;

**Note2:** Transfer in-rest-period gems to the blockchain will not result in the cancellation of the rest period .&#x20;

**Note3:** During an upgrading event of gems, the newly gained gem is always starting fresh without a rest period.&#x20;
